artwork is depicting a scene from the televised Elvis special took
place in 1968 at NBC Studios in Burbank, California. The special
included a sit-down session that showcased Presley in an informal
setting, surrounded by fans and a small band. The special featured hits
like `Jailhouse Rock', `Hound Dog' and `Can't Help Falling in Love'. It
was the King's first TV appearance for more than eight years and is
regarded as one of his best performances.“We
put diamond dust on the paintings in Dreamland. I wanted to create this
sculptural three dimensional element to my paintings. I wanted this
almost luxurious veil for these celebrities to sort of envelope them by
the diamond dust” - Young.Delving
into themes of seduction, desire, and beauty, beneath the polished
surface of his diamond-dusted Dreamland series lies a profound
exploration of the American Dream and the shadowy underbelly of fame.
Despite appearing to have it all during the peak of their stardom, these
icons' lives were overshadowed by tragedy, and for many, the pursuit of
fame ultimately led to their undoing.
